Piping infrastructure
PEX Pipe Installation and Heating Infrastructure
The pipe network is the backbone of a central heating system. We plan and install PEX pipework that carries heat reliably from the boiler to every part of the building.
Overview
Why the pipe network matters
PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) is a flexible pipe widely used for heating. Because it bends, it can be laid in long continuous lengths with fewer joints, and it does not suffer from the internal scaling and corrosion that affect some metal pipes. That makes it well suited to concealed runs in floors and walls.
A good pipe material still needs a good plan. Pipe sizes have to match the flow each part of the system needs, routes have to be sensible and accessible, and connections and manifolds have to be placed where they can be reached later. We plan the network first, install it carefully and pressure test it before anything is covered.
What's included
Scope of work
We install the pipe network as a complete, planned piece of infrastructure.
PEX pipe installation
Supply and installation of PEX heating pipe, laid and fixed to suit the building's construction.
Heating pipe networks
Flow and return circuits serving radiators or heating zones throughout the building.
Core infrastructure piping
Main runs from the boiler or plant room to distribution points on each floor.
Routing and connections
Pipe routes through floors and walls, fittings, manifolds and isolation valves.
Distribution infrastructure
Branching to zones and floors so each area receives the flow it needs.
Technical planning
Pipe sizing and route planning, coordinated with the stages of construction.
Our process
How we install a pipe network
Review and survey
We review your drawings or survey the building and agree the heating layout.
Route and size planning
We plan pipe routes, diameters and manifold positions.
Installation and connection
Pipes are laid, fixed and connected to manifolds and distribution points.
Pressure testing
The network is pressure tested before floors or walls are closed over.
Applications
When PEX pipework is the right step
Pipe infrastructure is often installed before the rest of the heating system, especially on buildings under construction.
- New buildings, before floors and plaster are finished
- Extensions and additional floors
- Re-piping an older heating system
- Multi-zone or multi-floor buildings
- Projects where heating is installed in stages
What you gain
- Fewer joints in concealed pipe runs
- A network sized for the system's heat demand
- Planned routes that are easier to maintain later
- Pipework pressure tested before it is covered
- Infrastructure ready for radiators and boiler connection

FAQs
Questions about PEX pipework
Common questions about this service. If yours isn't answered here, ask our team.
01Can the pipework be installed before the boiler is chosen?
Yes. The core pipe infrastructure can be laid during construction based on the heating plan, and the boiler and radiators connected later.
02Is PEX suitable for pipes inside floors and walls?
PEX is commonly used for concealed runs because it can be laid in long lengths with few joints. We pressure test the network before it is covered.
03Can you work alongside my builder?
Yes. We coordinate with your builder so that pipework is installed at the right stage and not damaged by later work.
04How are pipe sizes decided?
Pipe sizes depend on how much heat each part of the building needs and the length of each run. We work these out during planning, as part of heating system design.
05Can new PEX pipework connect to an existing heating system?
Often, yes, for example when extending heating to a new floor or extension. We check the existing system first to confirm the connection will work properly.
